I have an AP9630 with a 06/14 manufacture date pulled from an old SMT1000.
I'm looking for some advice as to whether I can use it with a new TradeUPS unit - and update the BIOS, or whether to purchase a new one for a client.
Anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Since the manufacture date of the AP9630 is 2014 according to Larry, the faceplate should be a non issue. Only cards from late 2009/2010 need the updated faceplate. Plus as Matt said, if it was already in an SMT UPS, it will fit just fine.

Hi Larry - AP9630 is compatible with all modern UPS I can think of besides select 3 phase UPS models that serve the facility/entire building level.
You'll be able to update the firmware to the correct application and use it without issue. No need to purchase a new one. If you know what model you're buying through trade UPS, we can share link to a specific firmware or instructions. Some of the newer UPSs also come with a built in AP9630 variant these days too which I could always confirm if I know what model you're trading in for.

Looking to get an SMT1000C and an SMT750C.
I realize they both have the SmartConnect functionality, but I'm an "old fashioned" APC partner when it comes to network management.
Thanks!

Hi Larry
Your AP9630 is compatible with those UPS. You might find the slots in the faceplate do not line up with the UPS, in which case just contact your local Customer Care team ( https://www.apc.com/us/en/support/contact-us/index.jsp) and they will send you one that fits free of charge.
Regards
Matt

Matt, I appreciate that update (I think).
I am an MSP and if I'm placing a TradeUPS order for a client, I expect to install it within a day or so of receipt - having shipped the items to the client site.
I certainly don't want to show up and then have to tell a client that there has been a delay because a part doesn't fit - especially when I have no idea how long that "free" replacement is going to take to arrive. Which would necessitate a second trip to the client site (and, obviously, no billable charges on my part for the "oversight.")
So, please, tell me - what's the best approach here? Buy a new one, "wing it," or contact Customer Support and replace the item beforehand?
Thanks!

Hi Larry
Looking at the information I have here, I think as the AP9630 is already in an SMT UPS it will have the correct faceplate.
If you would like to make sure I have attached a picture of the faceplate that will fit the UPSs you are looking to get.
