We have this new UPS sitting on a table right now. Set up NMC2 card. Used the Device IP Configuration Utility to give it an IP and connected via browser. Home has 2 critical errors and two warnings. Critical - The battery is not installed properly and the output power is turned off. Warnings - The power for the main outlet group, UPS outlets is off and the power for switched outlet group 1, Outlet Group 1, is off.
Through the web gui I keep trying to "turn on" the the outlet power bu it doesn't work. Would it have to have something plugged in before we can do that? And I don't know what to do about the battery error
Thanks
Eric

Hi Eric,
Is tech support escalating further? I assume they'd ask for the logs from the NMC to be able to understand the specific errors. If they didn't already grab those from you, I can take a look. I preferably would like the .tar file as covered here -> http://www.schneider-electric.us/en/faqs/FA156131
If you already sent them to someone, I can look it up if you have a case number.

Hi Eric,
The UPS won't be able to turn on its output power without a battery. Our UPSs ship with the battery disconnected due to DOT regulations. The first thing I would do is take off the front bezel of the UPS and find the battery connector and make sure it is secure. Then, try turning the UPS on again like you were. I suspect both messages will go away assuming the battery is good and connected which will then allow you to turn the UPS on and let it go through a self test when it powers up.

Thanks Angela
I thought I just replied bit I don't see reply so I'll try again. After a call to APC support I did hook up battery and now the battery message is gone, but the output power errors remain.

Eric,
When you first plug the Smart-UPS in the LCD screen lights up but the outlet groups are not energized. You must press the power on button or log into the NMC and select Control then Outlet Groups. When reviewing Control then Outlet Groups you should see the state as off. Select Action and command the outlet group on.

Well, I finally got it turned on. Went to the LCD display screen on the UPS (which looks nothing like the documentation) and managed to turn on the output power.
Now all the errors are gone.
Thanks for your help
Eric
