Please could anyone help me with the following error?
Getting the system JRE ...
Open Error
SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment
Failed to get the system JRE.
I'd like to update my JRE to 6.0 Update 30, which is installed on my system, and that key contains the expected values (CurrentVersion and Java6FamilyVersion), but the JRE Config Tool can't open it, even when run as Administrator.
This is on WHS 2011 (Windows Server 2008 R2).
If I don't manage to get the config tool to run, could anyone tell me what needs to be changed in order to make the change manually? Presumably, that tool doesn't actually do much?
Thanks,
Simon

In case anyone else comes across this issue, I've figured it out.
The JRE Config Tool (and possible PBCE itself -- I didn't try) cannot or will not use a 64-bit JVM.
I copied the JavaSoft/Java Runtime Environment registry tree under Wow6432Node, and then the config tool found the key, but it said "Cannot find jvm.dll", at which point, I understood what was going on. So, I uninstalled the 64-bit JVM and installed the 32-bit JVM. Then the config tool picked it up straight away.
I was a little surprised to see that the config tool copied the entire JVM under the APC directory, rather than just referencing it. I guess it makes it a little more resilient to system changes, but I've never seen that before.
Cheers,
Simon
