Hi everyone,
Is there any way to cause an AP9631 equipped UPS to signal its clients that the UPS is shutting down without actually shutting down – this is obviously for testing purposes. I want to signal the clients that the UPS is going down and observe the behavior of the clients.
I do NOT want to physically cause the UPS to cut power however. I see where the function is but it looks like it will shut down the UPS in actuality and that is what I do NOT want to happen:
Thank you!

Hi Boyan,
The only work around I can think of to avoid having the UPS actually shut down would be to configure the PowerChute Network Shutdown clients to shut down when the UPS is on battery. Then you would be able to pull the plug on the UPS, effectively putting it onto battery and causing PowerChute to initiate a shutdown. Then you can plug the UPS back into utility without it having to shut down at all.
Regards,
Nicole

Thanks Nicole,
That might work; on another subject is there such a thing as AP9631 software emulator? Say an OVA which emulates an AP9631 and one can control completely outside the physical world? That would ease testing quite a bit when building new infrastructure...
Thanks

Another approach I've heard of is to configure PCNS to shutdown on over-temperature. Then change the temperature threshold to trigger the shutdown.

Hi Boyan,
You can always use our TestDrive Link for live simulation.

@Jonathan Thank you so much; I did not think that such solution would exist! Good work for making this available. I will point my PCNS to the simulated card and do it that way. Cool!

Hi,
You cannot connect to the simulated UPS / NMC. Your best option is what VoidStar wrote.
