I'm just wondering if this is a problem? I've heard from some folks that if they don't match, it can affect the life of the battery?
It is a Smart-UPS RT 5000 XL
Power
Input Voltage: 245.35 VAC
Output Voltage: 230.00 VAC

As far as it affecting the battery, your Smart-UPS RT is a double conversion on-line UPS, therefore the output voltage is always independent of the input. The battery is not in use while the UPS is on-line, so there will be no effect.
Angela is correct in that it is best practice to match the UPS output to your input in the event the UPS must go to bypass. Some loads would not appreciate a significant change in voltage. Your voltages are not that different, so it's quite unlikely to find any equipment that would have trouble with the UPS operating in bypass.

can you find the exact model of the UPS on the little white sticker behind the front bezel or on the back?
an SURT5000XLI or SURTD5000XLI has a nominal input voltage of 230v but as it states on the [tech specs seen here which are the same for either unit|http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=surtd5000xli], it is also configurable for 220, 230 or 240 nominal output voltage. the default is 230 so thats what it sounds like its on right now.
If its the SURTD5000XLT or SURT5000XLT, [after seeing the tech specs here which are the same for both those models|http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=surtd5000xlt], this is configurable for 208 or 240v. it sounds like you have the above international model though.
it sounds like you may have 240v. you need to find out what your equipment needs because it is not good practice, as you suspect, to have different voltages. when the UPS is online, its fine but if the UPS goes to bypass, it will feed your equipment a different voltage, in this case, 245v.
i'd find out what voltage you definitely have on the input side in your location and then find out what your equipment requires for its voltages and then you can log into the network management card in the UPS and change the voltage appropriately to 220 or 240 if 230v isnt correct.
