I’m not clear as to what you’re referring to when you say (NIC) so will provide some general information that may offer you more insight.
Your specific model APC UPS has a green Ethernet port. This specific port is used to connect to the APC Smart Connect Cloud Portal Service.
You would access the units settings, metrics, etc through that cloud based website once you logged in. ☝️ On the rear is also a rectangular plate which accepts the APC Smart Slot for their NMC (Network Management Card) which provides full local network access, control, and management of the UPS.
If you’re connected with the green Ethernet port and don’t have the NMC installed.
The only method to review the metrics, settings over the network is via the APC Smart Connect Cloud Portal Service. 🤦♂️
In this specific configuration there is (No) local (network access) to the unit. 👎
Lastly, the two other ports are intended to connect to a computer system running APC PCBE / PCSS software to facilitate the graceful shutdown of the system during a lights out event.
The two serial ports can also be used to connect to other third party software such as APCUPSD / NUT. Only one serial port whether it be the RJ50 / USB can be connected at any one time for use!
Let me know if that helps clarify the NIC question. 👍
