I can't turn Smart UPS 750 off

I just got a new Dell Studio XPS 9000 with an i7-920 processor with 9GB DDR3 SDRAM. My old UPS would not work with it so upon recommendation from APC, I bought a Smart UPS 750 (SMT750). I use the power switch to turn my system on and off. My problem is that the APC is difficult to power off. When I press the power switch, it says "Power off No" I use an arrow key to change it to "Yes". Then I hit enter and it does not turn off. I play around with it and the best I can get is a timed power off where I have to wait 90 seconds to power down.

What is the fastest way to power down the APC?

TIA, Joe

Because these UPSs are more complex with delays, outlet groups, etc you'll see different power off options.

Also, for software besides PowerChute, consider the open source, third party apcupsd if you haven't already smile

Your UPS should accept that update as well. I don't think this is something that will be "fixed" to be honest since it is "working as designed. embarassed"

From what I can tell on UPS 09.1 for this UPS, these are the adjustments in the release notes:

Version:

========

UPS 09.1

Previous Released Version:

==========================

UPS 08.8

Applicable SKUs:

================

4.5G ID18, All standard skus beginning with SMT prefix (except RM-1U) and related OEM models for all applicable voltages.

1.This version starts to support modbus function.

2.To improve the LCD response after a fault is cleared allowing it to go back to normal operation.

3.To improve the logging of Run time calibration in PBCE.

4.To improve the reboot process for J-Skus when UPS is ON-Battery.

5.To improve the transferring from GREEN toSELFTEST and avoid improper messeage generated by customer server.

6.To improve the NMC Event log removing "unknown" and replacing with "power distorted" when appropriate.

7.To improve the Remote off command to have priority over a shutdown command.

Hope that helps.

I'm not at work, so I don't have access to a SmartUPS 1500 at the moment, but there are two general approaches:

1) Navigate to the Control menu and elect to turn the UPS off immediately OR
2) Navigate to the Configuration menu and change the off delay to 0.

When I get to work, I'll list the exact menu sequence or perhaps someone else here can.
