One thing that occured to me is that maybe the UPS doesn't know there are two external battery packs connected to it ? Roger did you update the "number of external batteries" setting via the UPS managment card ? ( if it has one) Or, did you run the older software "Battery Pack Utility" that comes on a 3.5" floppy disk ? (requires 940-0024B communications cable and laptop).
Another thing I have seen is if the ups internal battery constant is seriously out of whack, the UPS will report it has less than 100% charge level even with brand new fully charged batteries (although the lowest I have ever seen it go is 95% so would show 4 bars on the led graph ). With the constant out of whack it may also think it has no batteries attached and possibly end charging cycle prematurely.

hyperterminal is explained here -> HyperTerminal overview: Networking and Communications. It is a terminal emulation program.
Your UPS itself is not upgradable but if you have any software or accessories in use with your UPS, they may be upgradable. Do you have a network management card or APC PowerChute software installed? we could help let you know how to pursue upgrading those.

Thanks Angela,
I have heard about APC PowerChute software, but I don't know:
Where can I download the software for the Model DLA1500RM12U?
Is there any Manual Guide how to install the software or how can I upgrade the software?
BR,
Roger.

Do you have any software installed now? APC PowerChute Business Edition is what is required. You can download it via Software / Firmware page. When you download the software and select it, user's guides and operating system compatibility charts are available.

Hello. If you do not have any network management card installed on your DLA1500RMI2U, you can install PowerChute Business Edition on a computer. If you do have a network management card installed (i.e. AP9617/18/19 or AP9630/31) then you can install PowerChute Network Shutdown. Below are the links for both software and it will show you the features and benefits as well as documentation that would help you along the way.

Hello,
Thanks for your Answers. Well I am facing the following situation.
My Apc Machine is connected with 2 external Batteries. I have attached 2 news batteries with it. I have purchased them some 10 days ago. The Problem is, since 3 days the APC has stopped charging after 2 points (it has 5 points) and red light (Battery with "X" sign) has started blinking. I have called the APC and told them the problem that I am facing. They told me that it is due to the Software and I must come with my APC Equipment. I went there they have updated the Software, and I went back to home and connected the APC with the same Batteries, that I have purchased. After that I started charging it. After 2 points, it has stopped charging and has started blinking red light.
I called the APC again, they told me that the issue is with the new Batteries and not with the APC Machine. Well today I went to the Battery shop with my 2 news batteries and told him the whole story. He told me the problem is with the APC Machine and not with the new Batteries. Later he has tested both of these batteries, and he told me that both of the Batteries are fine.
Well I need to know a solution. I don't know, what should I do. How can I get rid of this Problem.....
Kind Regards,
Roger

Hi Roger,
OK - not sure why APC support in your region would tell you that type of issue is related to software in any way so I apologize for that.
Anyway, this condition is saying the batteries are disconnected. This typically is when they are physically disconnected OR when the voltage is so low in the batteries that they are not detected. When the voltage is so low and they are not detected is typically after a deep discharge and when the batteries are older.
We need to figure out and make sure all battery connections internal to the UPS are secure and leave the external batteries alone for now. Have you verified the physical connections are secure on the battery that is internal to the UPS? Please check that and I would also measure the DC voltage on them if you can. After that, if the condition exists, the next think I would do is plug a non-critical load or device to the UPS and pull the plug on the UPS as a test to see if actually transfers to battery operation or if the UPS turns off itself and brings the non critical load down with it. The result of this will tell us if it is an erroneous "battery disconnect" message or if there is really something wrong here with the battery bus or connections internally beyond what you could check. I think you should temporarily disconnect the external battery packs fully from the system for this test since they are needed to verify this issue and may just get in the way.
Hope this helps you get started. Let us know if you have any other questions.
