Hi
Need some assistance or just some examples of what has been done.
We are running Hyper V in a HA cluster, and I need to configure the UPS software for shutdown of the Guest and the host systems in a given time frame.
I have seen some guys, just use PCNS to power down the Host and then the VMs will power them self down if setup correctly, what I am not to sure is in HA will the VM not try and migrate when the host go down, and then mid migration the second host also shut down so then there is a issue.
All I can think is run the PCNS on each server and let them shutdown after X min, and then the Host after X=X min.
Please share what have been done and what can be done

Hi,
WE do not support Hyper-V in a cluster configuration at this time. WE will be supporting that configuration when we release PowerChute Network Shutdown version 3.1. We hope to release version 3.1 to the public in November.
In the mean time people that are running PowerChute on Hyper-V are installing the software on each host and the host/s are responsible for powering down the VMs. We have knowledge base document FA159689 that discusses the shut down of the VMs.

Powershell scripts will be used to perform live migration of VMs and graceful VM shutdown. You will be able to enable VM migration and VM shutdown/startup options using the PowerChute Setup wizard or on the shutdown settingspage. Migration will only be supported for VMs running on Hyper-V hosts that are part of the same failover cluster and the VMs must have high availability configured.
If you enable virtual machine migration, you will use the duration field in PowerChute to set the time allowed for the VMs to migrate to another healthy host in the cluster. VMs will not be migrated to hosts that are powered off, in a disconnected state, in maintenance mode or affected by a UPS critical event. By default, PowerChute will migrate VMs to any available host in the same cluster. Once the delay set in the duration field PowerChute will command the host/s to power down.
