How to recover from failed UPS firmware update
I am stuck with a beeping UPS after a failed firmware update, and I don't know how to recover.
I was trying to update a Smart UPS 750 model 18 from v8 firmware to v9 firmware.
I have 2 of these UPS's, one for network equipment, and one for my PC, both with NMC network cards, and the update was successful for the network switch UPS.
While in the process of updating my PC UPS, I bypassed power and ran direct from AC, not from UPS, while switching the output group off, I also told NMC to not notify PowerChute clients.
The firmware update via NMC started, and then PowerChute popped up saying it is shutting down, nothing I could do, and the firmware update was interrupted when the PC powered down.
On powering the PC back up, NMC said it lost connectivity with the UPS.
I removed AC power, no difference.
I removed AC power, pulled the batteries, replaced the batteries, and on plugging in AC power, alarm.
NMC comes back up, and reports a critical error with the UPS.
The UPS LCD is operational, the alarm is on, but no way to turn the alarm off.
I try to update the firmware from NMC, and it says power is on, but according to NMC power to outlets is off.
I connected the UPS via USB to the Win10 PC, it connects, and show a critical battery condition.
I tried the USB firmware update wizard, and the wizard says it cannot find a USB UPS.
