I have a SU 1500 XL with an extra battery pack and a 9616 management card. I need help getting it to shut down 5 servers in a certain order and at certain times. Here is what i want:
After 10 mins on battery, shut down servers 1 2 and 3
when 50% of battery remains, and is on battery shut down server 4
when 50% of battery remains, and is on battery shut down server 5
I have servers 1 2 and 3 on outlet group 1, sever 4 is on group 2 and server 5 is on group 3.
Server 4 has signaling from the USB cable and server 5 has signaling from the serial cable.
Server 5 cannot have any additional software installed on it and needs to run until the 1500 give a critical alarm as it is our phone system server. Server 4 is our mail server. Servers 1 - 3 are not very important.
Is there a way to do this? I don't mind purchasing software if I have to, but I can't figure this out on my own. Thanks!!!

I think I can help you out with this. First off, APC does not support using both the network management card and serial or usb interface to shutdown servers. It is recommended that you use the nmc and powerchute network shutdown or serial/usb connection and powerchute business edition.
So going forward lets use powerchute network shutdown. You will need to install this software on each server to shut them down in this manner. Once installed, you can access the application through a web interface at http://
For servers 4 and 5 the configuration will be a little bit more complicated. As stated before APC does not support using the network management card and serial/usb connection. Also you can only use serial or usb communication, not both. Enabling one, disables the other, and the only to reset it back to serial communication is to turn the unit off, unplug any load, unplug it from the wall, and press and hold the off button for 5 seconds til you hear an audible click.
So for both of these servers you would need to install pcns and configure the on battery shutdown event. You would then input whatever the runtime would be when the battery is at 50% charge, after servers 1,2, and 3 had been shutdown. Hope this information helps, let us know if you need further assistance.
