How do I Reboot a PDU Card via the Telnet Command Prompt

I have a question about logging into an AP7811 PDU (208v, 30A, 16-port) and Rebooting the Card via Telnet.

If I Telnet in as apc / apc and use the menu, you just use options 3- System, 4- Tools, and 1-Reboot Management Interface.

How would I do it using the Command Prompt? Telnet in as apc / apc-c

Is there a hidden command I can use?

This is all I see:

APC> help
 OK
 on :  off :  reboot :  outletgroups :  rebootduration :  powerondelay :  poweroffdelay :  pducoldstartdelay :  overloadalarm :  nearoverloadwarning :  lowloadwarning :  overloadrestriction :  adduser :  deluser :  assign :  unassign :  list :  status :  name :  current :  power :  password :  passwd :  whoami :  reset_defaults_pdu :  uploadini :  ver :  version :  logout :  logoff :  exit :  quit :  bye :  help :  ? :  delayedon :  delayedoff :  delayedreboot

Type "help [command]" to get detailed help on a command.

Here is my version

APC> version
 OK
 AOS v3.7.3
 Switched Rack PDU v3.7.3
 Model: AP7911A
 Outlets: 16
 Max Current: 30 A
 Input Type: Banked

For those of you that are wondering, our lab a lone has qty. 20 - APC AP7900 (120v 15A 8-port), qty. 3 - APC AP7911 (208v 30A 16-port), qty. 1 - APC AP7900B (120v, 15A, 8-port, 4 Users), qty. 5 - RPC RPC-3 (120v, 15A, 8-port, 1 Users), qty. 5 - Tripp Lite PDUMH30HVNET (208v, 30A, 16-port, 4 Users), and qty. 1 - Tripp Lite PDU15NET (120v, 15A, 2-port, 4 Users). Everyone of these PDU's can have it's output turned On, Off, and Rebooted remotely. Multiple people share most of the units so I need a quick way to reboot the card remotely to kick them off if need be would be great. I do have this unit set to its max of 10 minutes and other units set to 1 hour if not in use in case a script is running in the background. The Tripp Lite uses ON/OFF/CYCLE so the Reboot command power cycles the card.

One of our software engineers wrote a great program the 8-port AP7900. Once installed a small GUI is used with 8 receptacle on it, you just push a receptacle button and that output turns On or Off, the 3 holes on the receptacle shows as yellow being On and dark being Off. There is also 8 checkboxes if you wanted to do multiple at the same time. Last but not least is a Current Button; pushing that shows you the current draw at that time. This program loges in, does what you want and logs Off each and every time allowing multiple users to use the same unit.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Jim,

I double checked the PDF attached to this knowledge base article (http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156163) and unfortunately, I do not see that you can reboot the AP7XXX series management interface through the apc/apc -c "special scripting CLI" as it seems mostly just intended for the outlet control/details.

You'd have to do it through the standard telnet interface menu you noted.

As the products have evolved, you'll note that with the AP7XXXB models and AP8XXX series, we still have the apc/apc -c CLI for legacy purposes but then we also have the Network Management Card 2 CLI that has both outlet control and rebooting of the entire management interface available. And, maybe the users being logged in is less of an issue with those products because those also now allow multiple user log ins and ability to terminate sessions as well.

I am not sure if it is an option but there is an SNMP OID to reboot the management interface if the standard telnet menu-driven interface is too clunky to do it.

The little outlet control utility sounds like a nice little shortcut by the way.

Thank you for your response. I was just trying to bundle everything in our one utility.

Here is a picture of our little app, The receptacles show yellow when ON and are black when OFF. You can do multiples at once using the Ganged section.
