Hibernate system _and_ switch off ups

Hi!

I use a SUA 1500 I (from 07/2009) which protects my pc and its adjacent hardware (monitors, ...). I am running Powerchute Business Basic v. 7 (as supplied with the UPS).

When not using my pc, it is put in hibernate state and the ups is switched off (and consequently all attched equiment).

Is there any tool/way, to easily tell the system to hibernate and switch off the ups without doing this manually?

Andreas,

As far as I know, there is no way to tell the ups (without powerfail or low bat condition) to switch off a certain time after the system was manually put into hibernate through the PCBE software. Because the UPS output power is controlled by On/Off switch when it is plugged in.

However, By installing the Network Management Card (NMC) into the UPS and configuring an IP address for the card, you can monitor the UPS on the network and schedule a UPS Shutdown Daily, Weekly (at 1, 2, 4, or 8 week intervals), or One-Time. For example, I have attached a screen shot of the Daily Shutdown configuration page for your review.

You will then install the free PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) software on your Servers you wish to shutdown gracefully during a power event. The PCNS works in conjunction with the NMC. You do have an option to configure the PCNS software to shutdown your Server gracefully before the UPS scheduled shutdown. In this case, you do not need to hibernate your Computer/Server manually.

I hope that this helps.

The hibernation feature of Microsoft Windows is a way of protecting data in files that are open on your computer.
Hibernation saves everything in memory to disk, turns off your monitor and hard disk, and shuts down your computer. When you restart your computer, your desktop is restored exactly as you left it.

The Power Chute software will initiate a graceful shutdown if the UPS reaches a low battery condition on battery mode. I would like to gather some more information from you to understand what is going on with the UPS. Could you please post the data and event logs which was recorded before and after the UPS switched off the power to the connected equipment? What is the UPS run time showing on Software? What is the total load percentage which is showing on software?

Hi Techie!

The UPS did not switch off the power. Although the 1500I is mostly designed for servers, I use it for a workstation (three monitors and other equipment, leaving a SUA620I with too less runtime).

When I have no need for the workstation (being out for work), I hibernate the workstation.

To save power and also switch off all connected equipment at once (monitors, ...), I simply switch off the ups.

What I would like is to tell the ups (without powerfail or low bat condition) to switch off a certain time after the system was manually put into hibernate.
