My basic issue is while on generator, the UPS clicks on and off the battery.
If I put a Transfer Switch AP7752 (RACK ATS, 120V, 20A, L5-20 IN, (10) 5-20R OUT) in front of my UPS, would it provide a clean source to the UPS while on the generator? Does anyone have any other suggestions? Purchasing a new generator is outside the budget.

well, if you don't have any settings on your generator, what type of plugs are we talking about? usually we'd recommend a UPS but perhaps a double online conversion UPS, versus a line interactive like the model you are using. [this white paper|http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/SADE-5TNM3Y_R7_EN.pdf] explains the different types of topologies a UPS can have. the double online conversions are better at accepting any type of "crappy" power and remaining online. they don't even have a sensitivity setting. other than that, we don't sell anything but i think that something like a line conditioner or power conditioner would be something to look into.

what UPS model do you have that is giving you this issue? an ATS will automatically switch between two power sources. i am not quite sure that will do what you want. some UPSs deal with poor quality input power than others though and also, some UPSs have settings to overcome these issues.

alrighty, with your LCD menu in advanced mode, what is your sensitivity and local power quality? have you edited those?

ok, i would definitely adjust those to see what affect they have when you are running on generator. it may very well alleviate the issue and the need for another product. i would lower the sensitivity to low or reduced since i think the default is a high setting as well as the line quality.

Thank you!
Do you know of any device that can be attached between the generator and the breaker box to "clean up" the power?
