Frequent errors - Lost communication with UPS

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (SBS 2011 Standard) - APCPCBEAgent posts event id 3000 to the systems Application Event log every couple days, "Lost communication with UPS". The UPS (Smart-UPS 750RM) is connected via an APC provided cable to serial port (COM1). The APC log indicates the duration of the communication failure is typically 10-11 seconds. The only other event being logged around the time the 3000 event is logged is Service Control Manager Event ID 7036, "Application Experience Service is starting", which is consistently logged about 1-2 seconds following the 3000 log. AES is set to start manually. There appear to be no power events (sags, spikes, etc.) logged by the agent at the time. The PCBE agent edition is 9.0.1 which I think is the latest and greatest.

This event doesn't appear to affect the function the UPS or cause the APC PBE Agent service to go down or cycle as I can still connect, monitor, and manage the UPS via a PCBE console without restarting the service or the system. Is there any concern at all with this event and is there a fix for this? I also note that the BIOS is the latest from the manufacturer (Dell). The box was built out in late May and is fully patched.

2nd question: This is an x86 edition on an x64 box. I've never had an x64 edition of PCBE laid down by the installer on any x64 edition of Windows, just x86. Is there an x64 edition?

The same problem - Agent posts "Communication Lost on Agent Server" every couple days and server reports UPS as "Unknown Device".
Server - HP ProLiant DL320 G6, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
UPS - SUA2200 VA XL 230 VAC is connected via an APC provided cable to USB port.
PCBE - 9.0.1.601
Restarting agent service (and even all computer), reconecting UPS, reinstalling ports don't solve the problem.
Only soloution is switching UPS off and then switching on.
Connection via COM port works fine, but unfortunately, I need this port in my computer for other connection.
