I recently purchased a used ap9606 network management card for my Smart-UPS 1500. It probably needs a firmware upgrade but I can't seem to find firmware for this older model. Also, I get the error "MasterSwitch : Wrong Application Loaded for Attached Device" when I connect to the card. I want to use this with Powerchute Network Shutdown (I think?) but the software cannot seem to locate my card. I don't think its a network issue since I can talk to card via HTTP and SSH. I think all these problems are due to having the wrong software on my ap9606 since I don't use the MasterSwitch product. I've been poking around the internet looking for a solution.
Any ideas?
Thanks

On 5/8/2016 3:14 PM, John said:Indeed. I too am still using an AP9606 and needed to upgrade the firmware. For posterity:
I was able to upgrade the firmware from my Mac using command-line ftp (note that the "hash" command is optional, and the "passive" command was needed to disable passive mode):
ftp> bin
ftp> hash
ftp> passive
ftp> put aos326b.bin
ftp> quit
I'm working on a 19 year old APC SU1400NET from a Mac and I appreciate everyone's effort to pay it forward in this thread. For my part, note that after upgrading the AOS (OS &TCP/IP Stack) as John stated, you may also have to update the built in APP. In my case this was the sumx326.bin file:
ftp> bin
ftp> hash
ftp> passive
ftp> put sumx326.bin
ftp> quit
May these units run forever!

I reseated the card, and tried ftp with the command has added. I still get the same error, but with a line of ############## after the 150 message. Also, once this happens if i try reconnecting with ftp it just says "connected to 192.168.20.31" and just sits there until i hit the reset button on the management card

I used the bin command, and the guide didn't say anything about hash. I've tried to push it via command-line ftp, and I also tried to pull the file via Telnet from a Filezilla ftp server, both seem to fail. I'll try reseating the card right now..

did you do the commands of bin and hash first? is the AOS the first file you put on there? you didnt put the APP first, correct?
also, can you try to reseat the card in the UPS? just pull it out for 5-10 seconds, then reinsert and try again.

You can use the update utitlity for the AP96117 cards. Just place the two bin files for the 9606 cards into the same directory you unzipped the 9617 utility into. Then change the text of the config.txt to:
AOS = aos325.bin
APP = sumx326.bin
Works just fine.

Hi, where do you find the utility that you mentioned? Also, the link to the knowledge base article that "winna" mentioned in her earlier post seems dead. Thanks in advance!

yes, that is the issue most likely.
here is a link to the latest firmware:
ftp://ftp.apc.com/apc/public/hardware/webcard/firmware/security/v326b/
for Smart UPS, download the AOS file and the sumx file. then follow the instructions in [this knowledgebase|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/768] to upgrade via manual FTP.
keep in mind, AP9606 is 10+ years old so it is not currently being tested with the last versions of powerchute. it should still work though so give it a try after you upgrade the firmware.

Hi @kevindd992002,
I just wanted to be sure that what you have is an AP9606, the reason I asked for this is due to the information that you have provided wherein I saw that it was an AP9619.
AP9619 Network Management Card AOS v2.6.4 FTP server ready.
The AP9619 uses a different firmware that the AP9606, may I know as well if you are using a Mac or Linux OS and if there is a possibility for you to connect serially to the NMC?

I have acquired one of these old cards and I can connect to it, but I can't find the firmware files to update it -- the links above are no longer good.
Does anyone knew where they went?

I too have a 9606 in an older RM1500 which works, but has horribly old firmware (and apparently no SNMP capability, even though the banner says it does.)
I can get connected to it and telnet just fine, but the links above for the updated firmware files and instructions on how to send them are expired -- neither link works. Is there a new location for them?
Thanks in advance!
