You run into a technical limitation with the number of XR Frames as well.
The 40 kW SYPX UPS can support up to 4 additional XR Frames. With the UPS and the XRs full of batteries this will provide just under 4 hours of run-time at 20 kW. Of course as the load increases, the run-time decreases.
What this means is; A 4 hour run-time with a 30 kW load is beyond the capabilities of a 30/40 kW SYPX.
With an extended run-time like this, other issues come into play; how do you cool the load while on battery?, the recharge time will be very long (think days) ...
A generator might be a more pratical solution.

Keep in mind that to maintain/purchase a service contract or support option on the UPS, you will need to use APC SYPX Extended Battery frames and our APC batteries. Assuming you are at full load, you will need SYCFXR8-8 (fully populated XR frame) and another at least SYCFXR8-4. These battery frames (and the PX itself) populate with SYBT4s.
SYBT4s will run you $1,750US ERP. The SYCFXR8-8 will run you anywhere from around $13,000 US up to around $18,000 depending on your reseller relationships, if you are direct account, etc. The SYCFXR8-4 will run you a few thousand less.
We cannot give out advice on using 3rd party batteries since suggesting to use them would automatically void any support on the unit and because they are not officially tested to work with the unit. APC is not liable for any irregularities or failures due to the use of third party batteries.
