Entry Level UPS

I am looking for an entry level UPS that is both compatible with Windows Server 2003/2008 and communicates via USB to be used in a single server application. Is the SMT750 my only option?

Is it more like a desktop that's been converted into a server? You might be able to get away with a Back-UPS model, though it depends on the power supply - most server power supplies don't like the longer transfer times the Back-UPS have, which is why the typical recommendation for a server is a Smart-UPS.

I agree with Buzz comments. If your system power supply has got an active PFC supply, then I recommend you to go for any one of the APC Smart UPS SUA,SMT or SMX UPSs. You can go for SMT750 or you may check out the Coastal Business Machines direct sales of refurbished APC UPS systems.

You can purchase the SUA1500 UPS for $ 199.00 from CBM. All Certified Pre-Owned UPS systems are tested to the same specifications as our brand new products. All Certified Pre Owned UPS systems come with a one year warranty and free technical support directly from Coastal Business Machines.

Coastal Business Machines offers both telephone and web based sales options. You may reach Coastal Business Machines by telephone by calling 800 2 FIX UPS (800-234-9877), Monday through Friday from 8am until 8pm EDT. You may also explore your options directly through the Coastal Business Machines website, linked below:

http://www.buyUPSonline.com

As an added bonus, CBM is offering a $5 WEB ONLY discount off of the online purchase of any refurbished UPS when you use the promotion code "CPOBT07F6".

Also, just because you have a PFC power supply doesn't mean you need a Smart-UPS. There's a risk for overkill, though it's the "safest" route. Basically you just have to keep in mind the info in this kbase.

I have a 600w PFC power supply in my gaming desktop and it's connected to a BR800BLK, works like a charm. The PC doesn't really pull more than 300-400w max.
