UPS Model: Back-UPS XS 1500G (BX1500G)
S/W: PowerChute PE v3.0.2
Do you use the Energy Management feature on this UPS (family) along with the PowerChute application and does it work as you expect or desire?
For me, it does not and I cannot obtain a definitive answer as to whether or not there is a problem with my UPS.
Some months ago I obtained a new UPS from APC, the Back-UPS XS 1500G. The QA check-off sheet indicated everything worked as expected.
The UPS has an energy management feature with a Master Outlet and several Controlled Outlets. In a black & white sense, the feature works,
When consumption on the Master is below a threshold, the Controlled Outlets are turned off; and vice versa. The UPS allows this feature to be
turned on or off via its front panel.
The issue or confusion arises when utilizing the PowerChute application. There is a check box to enable or disable the Energy Management feature.
This jives with the UPS front panel indicator. Within the application, there is the ability to select an Energy Savings Plan, as well as a Power
Consumption Threshold for the Master Outlet. I have tried all of these settings, along with custom and only one seems to work - the Minimal
Energy Savings plan. This turns everythign on right away (less than the 4 sec indicated) and turns the outlets off after 20 min.
I have exchanged numerous eMail with Tech Support and cannot get read as to what should work for this UPS. That is, what plans can be used
with this UPS? The only two that work at the Default (immediate on/off) and the Minimal (immediate on / off after 20 min). As an aside, I have
checked the documentatino for teh Back-UPS Pro 1500G, and it gives no better indication of support for additional plans. As the application recognizes
the UPS model, I would presume that non-supported features would be disabled.
My apologies if this is not the correct topic area. I can see that it could fit under either hardware (i.e. UPS firmware) or software. Below is a screen shot
from the application and the feature in question.
Thank you,
John
