Please can members of the community advise what settings they use/recommend related to email based notifications from the device types specified so as to avoid email overload. Specifically:
What categories do you enable e-mail notifications for i.e. Critical, Warning, Informational (or perhaps just the first two).
If a Delay period (range: 5 seconds - 720 minutes) prior to an e-mail notification being issued is used - Disabled by default.
Repeat Interval (range: 30 seconds - 720 minutes) used for Critical, Warning, Informational category notifications - 2 minutes by default.
Duration - until cleared by default.
Number of Notifications After Initial (range: 1 to 99).
We have EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert (DCE), but currently all of these notifications are managed at the individual device level. We have attempted management through DCE, but this appears to offer even more notification types complicating NOT simplifying things further and would result in a large volume of e-mail traffic being generated from the DCE server rather than distributed; it would also mean that no notifications would be sent during DCE upgrades.
The goal is to strike a balance in ensuring that issues are identified, escalated and remediated ASAP but without disabling appropriate notifications that would prevent the stated goal.
For context, the environment I help support consists of 850+ devices geographically spread across numerous sites.
