Hi,

The log show that the UPS is reporting Low Battery so PowerChute is initiating the OS shutdown. The screen shot also show the UPS is reporting that it is a Back-UPS not Smart-UPS. What is the part number of the serial to RJ45 cable that you are using? Also, what is the exact model and serial number of the UPS? You will find the information on the bar code sticker on the back or bottom of the unit.

Hi,

You did not provide the cable part number so I will assume you are using the proper cable.

Seems like you installed the software for the wrong UPS. Please run the uninstaller and start over. The command to uninstall is sudo rpm -e pbeagent When you reinstall when asked select 2 for RJ45, 2 for no the system is not connected to an interface expander, enter user name and password, select the proper serial port, select yes the setting are correct, enter the ip address of the ESXi host you would like PowerChute to power down, and finally select yes start PowerChute.

You should then be able to log into the web interface https://:6547 and configure PowerChute for the SMT2200.

Hi,

Good day. I've tried the method that you suggested earlier to reinstall my Powerchute Agent in vMA, but still no luck, it still shows "Communication Lost" after login.

For the part number of the RJ45 to Serial console cable, I'm not sure on how to check from it. Any suggestion on this? I can see that there are some serial number kind of things on the cable itself, but not really sure about this.

Thank you

Best regards,

Kong

Hi,

I think I found some details from google, here is the details I got from it regarding the RJ45 to Serial console cable:

SPACE SHUTTLE-C E120414 CL2 26AWG 75*C AWM 2464

Hopefully this information helps.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Kong

Hi,

The cable should have part number 940-0625 stamped into the serial port end.

If you are using the proper cable and selecting RJ45 when installing the software the issue would then be with the serial port set up. You will need to verify you have set up a dedicated serial port for the vMA to use and that the proper port is being selected when configuring the software.

These are the setting I have for my vMA

I am fortunate that my host only has one serial port so I know that selecting uart0 is correct and /dev/ttyS0 is the proper port that I need to select from within the vMA.
