Does Upgrading firmware voids warranty?

What is the model and serial number of the UPS? You will find the information on the bar code sticker on the unit.

Hi Bill,

Apparently we have different kinds of APC UPS SRT&RT Model. My concern is does upgrading of firmware nullifies/void the warranty of the device?

Hi,

The firmware versions you've posted refer to the Network Management Card inside of the UPS that enables it to connect to your network. Upgrading this Network Management Card firmware does not void the warranty. We encourage it to take advantage of enhancements, bug fixes, and security updates.

Thank you for the response. Also in regards for the UPS firmware AOS does it require to be upgraded also and will not void the warranty? and which firmware send the notification is it the network card or the UPS firmware?

Hello - 

Upgrading firmware does not void warranty on any of our products. All of our Network Management Cards have upgradeable firmware. Our next generation Smart-UPS also have upgradeable firmware. "Next Generation" products would be any Smart-UPS that has a full LCD display rather than just LED indicator lights on the front. Part numbers would begin with SRT, SMT, SMX, or SMC. Sorry, missed your question to me from last week.

Upgrading the AOS or application firmware on the UPS Network Management Card does not void any warranties - AOS and APP are the two .bin files that compose the UPS Network Management Card firmware.

Email notifications are done by the UPS Network Management Card.

Just don't upgrade the UPS firmware outside of the warranty as you on your own then, several have had bricked UPS's during firmware upgrades.
