Hi all,
I would like to use PowerChute to run Shall / PowerShall command to shutdown ESXi server once power outage, but I have some questions...
1. ESXi server connect with UPS via USB connection, is it work?
2. What PowerChute version should I install?
3.How to install?
4.Any alternative methods?
Thanks,
Stanley

Hi,

No. PowerChute does not support communications to ESXi host via USB. Serial communication is supported.

PowerChute Business Edition can be installed on VMware VMA that is running on the ESXi host and configured to power down the host. The scripts to power down the ESXi host are incorporated into PowerChute so there is no need for you to write your own scripts.
NOTE: PowerChute Business Edition must be connected to a Smart-UPS via Serial comm.

Please review Knowledge Base documents FA166093 and FA165747

You can purchase a Network Management Card for the Smart-UPS and in stall PowerChute Network Shutdown. I also understand that APCUPSD will shutdown ESXi.
