Device Status is always On Battery & UPS shows as unknown device.

I'm using a Smart UPS 1400 on a Netware 6.5 SP7 system running ParaChute Business Edition 7.0.5. I am using the serial connection (COM2 configured as simple connection) with the cable that came with the device. The device always shows as On Battery & the device is unknown. Does anyone have an idea what may be wrong?

Have you verified this UPS can communicate in smart-signaling mode, if possible, on a Windows platform?

Just to verify, when you're doing the Install of the Agent, you Select Smart-UPS and the appropriate comm. port. Have you tried any other comm port during install to see if that changes.

And knowing it's a Novell server, I doubt this is possible, but have you tried restarting the server?

Verify the part number of the cable you're using.

If it's 940-0024, reinstall the agent and select Smart Signaling
If it's 940-0020, switch to a 940-0024.

I am using a 940-0024C cable. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the 7.0.5 agent with the only configuration change being to a SMART UPS. Now there is no communication established with the UPS. Not sure what to do.
