            DL5000RMT5U Dead Battery?

I have two APC DL5000RMT5U Smart UPS units that have just come out of storage having never been used previously. When I attempt to power these units up I plug them in and nothing happens...no lights or noises. My assumption is the batteries are dead having sat unused for 4 years. Is there any way to recharge these batteries or is my only fallback to purchase new battery packs for these units?

I was afraid of that. Yes, I tested each battery pack - each displayed voltage of between 4.5 and 9.

i would not even try the current batteries. if they do charge and have been sitting in storage for four hours, you risk overcharging them and causing swelling. if anything, can you try to measure to see if there is any voltage on the batteries?
