Hello,
I want to upgrade the capacity of our UPS, but it's hard-wired to your proprietary DB9 "computer interface port in the third generation (3G) Smart-UPS". Are there current offerings with this interface connector in the 1200 to 1500VA range?
My thanks in advance,
Bruce

The current generation Smart-UPS products have a serial communication connector in the form of an RJ45 connector. However, the protocol has changed from UPSlink ("APC Smart") to Microlink. Microlink is a closed protocol, but all currently produced and some older Microlink Smart UPS models can optionally communicate using the Modbus protocol.
I don't know if the Microlink UPS models directly support simple signaling or not.
If your application requires use of the older "APC Smart" protocol or simple signaling, you can install the AP9620 legacy communications card into the SmartSlot on the UPS. This will provide the DB9 serial connection with smart or simple signaling, as well as a USB connection.
If your application will require the AP9620 card, you may want to read this web page: http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156172/
