It is stated that Modbus/JBus Card (Model 66061) installed on MGE Epsilon STS installed. This card was configured with values supplied by BMS contractor. Now we require to modify/change the settings to new values. The below mentioned procedure was followed as per manual.
Baud rate: 9600
Parity: even
Stop bit: 1
Data bits: 7
Flow control: None
(Note: All SA1 Switches are in ON position right from initial card commissioning)
The above steps from 1 to 6 are followed as per manual and they goes fine but later steps are not being followed as per manual like when pressing L and Enter button for viewing current setting after CDE> on the terminal screen. “~” character appears for L key as well as “Enter” key. That’s why we are not able to view/modify setting.
Kindly advise a solution.

Hello,
Some feedback I received was: Select “Force incoming data to 7-bits ASCII” under ASCII Setup. This setup sometimes helps otherwise it should work unless the cable you are using has a couple pins jumped. Best to use a straight through cable.

The problem solved and i have successfully done the required settings. This time, I simply change laptop and Modbus card was easily accessed.
Thank you for your time and support in this regard.

Hello,
Thank you for help.
I have selected “Force incoming data to 7-bits ASCII” under ASCII Setup but this also does not help. The cable, we are using is same on which we have done setting of the above mentioned modbus card. This mean that it is not a cable issue.
Is it an windows operating system issue? or hyper terminal issue?
Please specify as which O.S is compatible with this card.

Hello again,
My colleague indicated he has personally tested this in Windows 98, Vista, 2000 and XP with HyperTerminal provided by the OS and using HyperTerminal downloaded from Hilgraeve website. It sounds like the terminal program is having issues and the only further suggestion we can give is to set emulation to VT100.
