Can compensating for high input voltage and going to battery too often damage the Lithium Battery?
I have a Smart-UPS 3000 from 2021 that is asking for a replacement battery. The log is full of UPS: On battery power in response to distorted input and Compensating for a high input voltage and Compensating for a high input voltage errors. The Vmax fluxed from 120 to 125. The unit is showing state:Replace battery.

At a high level the system is operating as designed and expected by engaging the AVR / battery only circuit when the input voltage is outside of the user defined settings.
You can adjust the power quality (sensitivity) which defines when the battery only circuit engages.
The upper / lower transfer voltage defines when the AVR circuit engages so you can adjust these values to a wider operating range.
Doing so will extend the operational runtime of the batteries and service life.
Doing all the above will force the system to accept (dirty power).
The hardware is covered by a three year warranty and the battery (RBC) is five.
I highly suggest you contact APC Technical Support to obtain a new RBC before the warranty runs out or get ready for some real sticker shock on the price! 🤣
All battery chemistry have a defined cycle life and DOD (Depth of Discharge) they can endure / sustain. Unlike lead acid chemistry lithium based cells can sustain 0-100-0% charge / discharge from hundreds to thousands of cycles before degradation.
Regardless of the above to achieve the longest service life of the lithium RBC is to limit the amount of cycles and never allow the RBC to remained fully discharged for a long period.
Operating temperature and especially during charging is critical for the longest service life!
