We have 3 x SC1000i UPS and each one is plugged into it's own server via the supplied Serial > USB lead (940-0272A). The servers at varying times lose communication with the UPS. I have contacted APC and they are stating that the issue lies with the Servers and not the UPS.
We are getting around the issue at the moment by using the Serial cables and the Com ports on the servers, so far they are still up and communicating.
Does anyone have a work around to getting the USB cables to work?

also another thing to tell us might be to tell us how you get them to re-establish a connection. do you have to reseat the USB cable or restart the service or what?

Paul,
I recommend you to install the Serial to USB cable driver which can be downloaded from the below link on your server, and check if the Power Chute communicates fine with the UPS.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks for the replies,
We currently are restarting the APC PCBE Service to get around this, for anywhere from 5minutes to a couple of days. 2 of the servers are identical hardware 1 is running Windows 2000 server, the other is running Windows 2003 Server, the third server seems to last for about 4 days before failing and is running Windows 2003 Server.
Reseating the USB is not an option as the hardware is on another site.
