Hi.
As you will be able to tell from the question, I am not completely up to speed on networking. I recently changed my ISP from DSL to a cable and the IP address of my modem router has changed from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1. So I guess this means the gateway has changed among other things. I can no longer see my three NMCs and wonder what the best way , i.e. easiest way, to reconfigure them so that they can be seen on the new network. The IP addresses of the three NMCs were manually configured as well. I can still go back to the old network configuration if necessary.
Thanks in advance for any information you can give!

What color is the one on the right (next to the checkmark and X)? Like orange and green alternating, just orange, etc? It should be solid green if its configured with an IP but the fact that it is flashing means its doing something else.
Since it is doing something else, using our Device IP Config Wizard software to find it on your home network may work.

Hi Joe,
With manually assigned addresses, I believe on the UPSs you have, you can update via the LCD on the UPSs (for SMX/SMT). I believe you need to have the menus in Advanced Mode and its under Configuration when they are in Advanced. You'll need to change the third octet on both IP address and gateway (the 1 to a 0) to match your network's scheme. You should be able to just use the up and down arrows and tell it to change the IPs and gateways.
If this does not work, the serial cable might be the easiest to get out and log in and change it since the device IP wizard we offer, can only find items on the same network as your computer you run it on and now you're on a different network. (192.168.0.1 vs. 192.168.1.1).
Alternatively, you can just change the IP scheme on your new router's range to match the management cards as you mentioned which might be quicker if you can access your router now.

Hi Angela,
I took your advice and used the front panel to configure the NMC2s in the SMT3000 and the SMX1500RM2U even though the smart bet was, as you mentioned, changing the router's IP scheme. I haven't done the NMC in the old SU2200 but, I suspect, I will have to log in via the cable and do it from there. Thanks much!

You're welcome. And yes, with the SU2200, I'd just use the cable OR do a direct connection with a crossover ethernet cable from your computer to the NMC and set up your computer to the old scheme of 192.168.1.X and then type the NMC's IP in the web browser to access it, change the IP settings to the new scheme, let it reboot, then switch your computer back to the settings previously and you should be able to access it as well.
If you need help doing that, let me know what operating system you have on a computer you connect with.

Thanks for the suggestion on the crossover cable. I'll build one to take care of the SU2200. Ciao!

Also, if your computer's NIC is gigabit (1000mpbs) capable, it will auto-crossover for you with a regular straight through cable.

I am not having much luck getting the AP9617 talking to me. I tried connecting my laptop with a gigabit NIC directly to the NMC and got nothing. I tried both a straight thru and a newly made crossover cable. The two lights on the AP9617 are both flashing. The one on the left looking at the back of the unit appears to be illuminating at a random rate. The light on the right is cycling on and off at about a 1 second interval.and is very rythmic in nature. The NIC on the laptop has one solid orange light and one is turning on and off at a random rate. Of course I cannot find my old serial cable. I also went back to the old network who's gateway wsa 192.168.1.1 and couldn't reach the UPS either. Any other thoughts? Thank you Angela.

The one with the "X" is orange and flashing cyclically on and off. I wonder what I did to it?

OK, that means its trying to do a BOOTP request (which your router probably just supports DHCP). I would try running our device IP configuration Wizard software to see if its able to find the device since you don't have your cable handy. (you can get it from here -> http://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm and filter by software/firmware and choose software upgrades - wizards and configurators).

Great minds think alike! I just completed it and it found the unconfigured NMC. The utility restored it to service. I wonder why it became unconfigured? Woohoo!!!
