First a bit of history, although mostly irrelevant, skip to bottom for software question.
I had a BackUPS XS 1500 w/battery pack. Connected to it was one server, a small router, satellite ip modem, and 32" LCD monitor. I was well within the listed specifications of my UPS and had no problems, much less complaints, about the UPS. It operated as specified and never failed. I consider myself a well satisfied customer.
Recently, we experienced a surge during a thunderstorm, all the lights got brighter, and my whole network went down. The battery failed, started chirping and the red overload light came on. This was cause to worry, not simply because it displayed 'Overload' when I knew I was within specs, but that my whole network was down. Everything plugged into the unit was off.
I inspected the back of the unit, checking for the circuit breaker. It was not tripped. Aware of the importance of the ground cicuit during an over voltage event, I check the Site Fault Indicator light, it was not illuminated. I attempted to cycle the unit by depressing the power button on the front, but nothing occurred. I tried powercycling the unit a few times and each time I wouldnt get a green on line light, instead, the red overload light remained on. I disconnected everything from the unit, and began testing my equipment for damage. Luckily, none of my equipment seemed damaged by the surge, so maybe the UPS took itself out, but still protected my stuff. Nice.
I contacted APC, and the tech support verified my warranty, and had a replacement unit (BackUPS RS 1500) en route the same day. Thumbs up on APC Support (so far).
None of my physical equipment seemed to have been harmed in the surge, but I did have a loss. My server had 2 500GB HD's in RAID-0 (1 TB Stripe). And RAID doesnt like unplanned power outages. I lost the whole stripe, all my data. It was unrecoverable.
*Now is where we get to the current problem I'm facing. I had to reinstall my OS, and all my software. I cant find the PowerChute CD that came with the replacement unit APC sent me a few months ago.*
*I can find the software on the APC site, but after selecting the proper download, it keeps bringing me to an APC Personals Page login. The page clearly states:*
*"Personal Pages are currently offered to APC Resellers/Partners. Members of our Channel Programs have access to dynamic sales, marketing, design, and configuration tools via a password-protected Reliability Provider Partner Partner Page. Gain access to a wealth of benefits and receive a Personal Page when you become a member of APC's Channel Programs."*
*I've tried logging into the main APC site first, and it still wont let me download the software. I have a valid user name and password, and I've tried using the forgotten password feature, putting in my proper email address, and even though it states that it sent the email, the email never arrives. I've checked my Junk folders and all that, the email never arrives.*
*No matter how I go about attempting to download the software, it brings me to that darn* APC Personals Page login, for which I do not have an account with. Can anyone provide the secret for a legitimate customer to download software?*
*Is the software mirrorred somewhere? An alternate download site?*
Any info on how to obtain an authentic copy of the software would be greatly appreciated. Again, sorry for the legnthy post.
