I hope so save someone.

I have a brand new (very old) APC UPS sua1000rmi2u and now I've put an AP9617 card.

The upgrade procedure failed and I needed to save the day.

Telnet is working, also FTP, but the web interface is trowing error.

The easy way is to upload bot files into ftp and wait for restart.

0. Download the new firmware (2 files)

In my case was:
apc_hw02_aos_373.bin
apc_hw02_sumx_372.bin

Put them on c:\apc

1. Find the IP on the router and open command prompt

ftp

open IP

user & pass default are apc

binary

lcd c:\apc

put apc_hw02_sumx_372.bin
put apc_hw02_aos_373.bin

Should reboot and work!

I would see if you can get manual FTP to work. Instructions here on how you can do that -> http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA156047

If that won't work either, it may be possible that the FTP data port on your network or computer is blocked. This issue usually allows you to log in to the card but not transfer data like issue file listing commands or transfer the files for the upgrade.
