Hello all,
I have a device that is going to a client that does not want the secure firmware option that has come preinstalled my question is can this be downgraded to the standard firmware?
I have seen some posts saying that it can however i am unable to access the BM> prompt is this be design to prevent me from accomplishing this task in the first place? I am trying to access this via resetting the device and have tried numerous ways of resetting it including holding in reset button for ten seconds and continually pressing enter on keyboard - i can tell it is resetting as it keeps then promoting me to change the default password as you would expect. however i am at no point able to access the boot menu prompt BM> that i believe will then allow me to install the standard firmware.
Any help really appreciated.
Thanks,
H

Yes the NMC can be flashed to none secure but you better find out if the client follows any sort of standards / ISO.
If they do then remaining on the secure firmware is the only real path for them. You may reference this forum thread for the link:

Thanks Teken for coming back to me it is good to know that this can be done the client has no ISO standards that require this at present - the issue i am still having is the same as the above in as much as i cannot get the unit into boot mode BM> - is this the way i should be flashing the unit or is there a different process i need to follow?
If you please let me know this? as soon as i have done this i will mark as a solution

The first task is to use the web interface to verify SSH, SCP, FTP are enabled. You may than use the NMC Wizard to down grade the system to 2.5.X.X
Enter the IP Address of the NMC and credentials. Select FTP and do not choose save logs. It will take about 1-2 minutes to flash and reboot the NMC.
When the pop up message indicates the firmware has been completed wait ten seconds before you close the message.
Once you login via HTTPS with apc for both user name / password. You’ll see a banner indicating the current firmware is blah blah blah.
Should the guided wizard not work you may use the CLI to update the firmware on the NMC. There are countless threads in the APC forum calling out the steps and requirements to do so.
