Hi Guys,
I am in need of some tips on cable management. Right now I have two racks each with about 15 servers in them. I have 2 switches installed in each rack that the servers feed into. I am looking for ways to neatly patch the servers into the switches. Do you usually make your own cables for this? If pre-made cables are to be purchased how do you get them to be the right size and look neat. Also do you guys use the server cable arms?
Thanks.

Have you tried to use spiral wraps to bundle your cables first. Spiral wraps and [server racks|http://www.cabletiesandmore.com/RacksEnclosures.php] usually comes along with each other to mount the equipments and also to tightly secure the cables of the devices.

I never use cable-arms in my installations. I find that they generally block the air-flow and I don't find really advance the cause of cable management. Over the last 20 years, the number of times I've needed (wanted) to pull a server foward while it is still running, I can probably count on one hand. Normally I shut the server down before pulling, and so I just take a few extra seconds to install a standard service cable-extension set I keep in my kit.
As for cable-patching the servers in a rack - generally I hand make cables to run from the server to a patch-panel, where the outlets are all numbered etc, but patching from there to other devices (switches etc) I generally use off-the-shelf cables.
