I have two SmartUPS 420SC devices that are going in a remote office on XP computers. I want the UPS to initiate a shutdown on power failure, which is no problem--the UPS service in XP will do that. I would like to have the additional control and status monitoring that PowerChute can provide, but I really have no need for remote management of any kind.
The PowerChute Business Edition seems way overly complicated for my needs. I don't want to install an agent, server, and console component for one PC. However PowerChute Personal only supports USB (so it appears.)
Are there any other options? I have not yet installed the business edition, am I just being too cautious?
