I;ve been using BX1500M unit for simple battery backup for two Synology NAS units, a Sonicwall TZ300 router, a Windows 10 laptop, and a couple of TP-TL116G switches. I want to transition to a UPS solution with power down for the two Synology NAS units, the Sonicwall TZ300 router, and the Windows 10 laptop. There are many more devices on the network but they will not be on the UPS's and will not be part of te power down. I have no idea where to begin - whether to use PCNS, PCBE or PCCE, whether additional hardware is required to connect the devices to be powered down.
I assume I'll need to use a SMT1500C instead of the BX1500M, but I have no idea how to power down the NAS units. I assume I could just turn of power to the Sonicwall TZ300 but not sure how, or how to shutdown the Windows 10 laptop.
I'd also like to use additional UPS's in series (if possible BX1500M units) to ad
d additional runtime - the SMT 1500C plugged into a BX1500M, that plugged into another BX1500M - so that when all the BX1500M have discharged, the smT1500C could initiate shutdown of the two Synology NAS, the SonicwallTZ300, and the Winows 10 laptop. Is that possible?

Hi Kurt,
I'd recommend a Smart UPS for a setup like this, then power the Synology NASs and the laptop from the Smart-UPS and the networking equipment from the Backups. (Network equipment doesn't normally need safe shutdown as much as the NAS boxes or computers) Then install PCBE or PCNS on the computer and set it to run a script in the event of an outage to shutdown the NAS boxes.
There is probably other ways to do it but that's what I'd recommend, some thing to note is that even though both PCBE and PCNS support running scripts it is up to you to write the scripts.
On your final point about daisy chaining UPS, I don't know if we have official guidance on this but it not something I would do, the output of a UPS on battery is no the same as mains power so I'm not sure if it would work reliably.
