Most (all?) NMCs (e.g. AP9630) have a coin cell battery soldered on them. I can't find any mention of this in the documentation or via a web search. It's a standard BR2032 (?) lithium battery, which isn't rechargeable. So, what's it for, and what happens when it dies?

The coin cell on the NMC is used to keep the time during a power failure of the system.
If the unit is powered by AC / Battery the coin cell battery will see very little use. If NTP is defined correctly a failed coin cell will be limited to a single time cycle.

Thanks. I was worried it might reset to defaults and become inaccessible without corrective action.
