Battery Charger Fault

I have a  Smart UPS RM 5000 RT XL which I have had for about 3 years.  Last night it started reporting:

Critical Alarm: Battery Charger Fault - A battery charger fault exists

Critical Alarm in bypass: Hardware Fault - In bypass in response to an internal hardware fault.

I don't know what exactly this is telling me.  The UPS complete one of its regular self test 2 days ago and all passed

Please advise on how to correct this issue.

I'd suggest providing us a few further details so we can make a recommentation.

1.) Provide the UPS firmware version/first six characters of the UPS serial number. You can see this within the Network Management Card interface typically under UPS->About or if the newer interface, About->UPS

2.) Please provide data.txt and event.txt and config.ini log files. Feel free to remove any personal details from the files. Instructions here on obtaining the files -> How can I download Event, Data, Configuration, and Debug files from my Network Management Card? | FA...

This could be an erroneous message or a legitimate hardware failure with the battery charger. What I asked you for could help me verify. We need to take a look ASAP especially if your batteries are newer and the charger has really failed. The batteries will begin to discharge and could become damaged.
