Hi
We've got a number of UPS' strewn around and I've been collating the details for each so we can replace the batteries / unit as required.
All but one are tallying up in terms of UPS and battery age, this one is significantly out of whack - I'm using Data Center Expert to get this information.
The UPS is a Smart-UPS SRT 5000 and manufacture date is the 2nd June 2015, but the battery age is reporting as 3424 days - so the 11th June 2007...
Would batteries which fit this unit have been available in 2007? Or could the manufacture date on the batteries have been written wrong / not written at all and defaulted to this date?
The battery calibration test comes back as OK, so I'm not overly worried, I'm just a little surprised 🙂
Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,
This is likely a configuration problem and your batteries are about the same age of the UPS - so likely an issue with the way either the onboard Network Management Card (NMC) in the UPS is reporting the replace battery date or the way that Data Center Expert is reading it.
Here is a knowledge base we just made yesterday. I suggest that you log into the SRT UPS directly and make note of what the battery replacement date and/or predicted replace battery dates are and see also what your date format is set to. Then, check this article out (http://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA299970) and maybe see if the DDF needs to be updated?

Thanks Angela
I'll see what I can sort out, this unit is a long way away from me.

You're welcome . If you can see it in Data Center Expert, you should be able to just log into it (AKA Launch to Device in DCE lingo) and browse the web UI to check out what I mentioned. Alternatively, you could just update the DDF, let DCE re-scan the device, and see if it fixes itself. If that doesn't work, then you'll just need to figure out how to log into the SRT and check out what I suggested.

Thanks again, I misunderstood and though I needed to get connected locally.
I've been through the settings and sure enough the expected replacement date for the batteries is 2020, having checked, the device had 2007 set as the installation date though.
Using your warranty check service, I found the actual manufacture date and have entered this as the installation date - all is looking a lot better now 🙂
Thanks for your help Angela
