Add additional batteries in SUA1500I
hi, i brought SUA1500I 4 months ago but its backup time is very less only for 1hr.I need extended backup time.
I contacted APC but said you need to buy new UPS with higher capacity n throw this one.
I can arrange 2 additional lead acid batteries of 12V of 100/150/180 Ah.
Should i remove RBC7 battery pack & attach 2 x 00/150/180Ah batteries directly in series.Will this works?
I have seen some systems where APC 800VA HI800SQ is attached to 180Ah battery n it is working fine.
Will SUA1500I + 2 x 100/150/180Ah batteries this setup work?
Kindly suggest what is max battery capacity SUA1500I can handle?

APC cannot officially recommend adding higher capacity to this particular unit. the UPS is designed around the standard battery and the amp hours that it provides. the UPS battery charger will be overworked and then you may run into recharge times of days, excessive heat, etc
it may be doable but APC cannot recommend this for the above reasons.
if anyone else wants to recommend anything, it should be understood that it will not be supported by APC unfortunately.

As explained earlier, APC can't recommend any sort of modifications to the unit. The UPS you have does not have the capacity for additional battery packs, though other models in the XL family do ([SU1400RMXLIB3U|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SU1400RMXLIB3U], [SUM1500RMXLI2U|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SUM1500RMXLI2U], etc). Other input from the community is welcome, but will not be supported by APC.
