Recently purchased this ups along with 3 UXABP48 external battery packs. We run in an environment where debian is the exclusive server OS. I've searched the knowledgebase for information on how to increase the number of external battery packs attached to the unit. I found one single pdf document which details how to increase the number of batteries attached to the unit, though the copyright on the document is dated 1998 and the model doesn't look the same, though the model number is the same.
At this point I don't have many options left, if someone could detail the method of increasing the number of batteries the UPS recognizes I'd appreciate it.
I'll address each possible suggestion below and why I can't use it. Though I'm willing to pick the lesser of any of the evils.
- No serial port information (or I missed it somewhere). (ie 9600 8N1)
- Can't run powerchute due to the following problems:
(Requires: X, rpm, no support for amd64, java dependencies, etc.)
- I can't find proper documentation to do this via either serial or usb connection.
- The UPS does not have the network management module installed.
I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone may have for me. (PS. Windows "might" be an option if I can find the right laptop, I haven't used windows since 2000 so I'm not knowledgeable at all)
Though the problem with using a windows laptop makes it difficult to test the batteries annually.
Thanks again!
