Hi
Starting to troubleshoot a UPS 2200 XL. It is not booting up at all. One thing I am wondering is if it's a battery problem (ie battery is dead) should the UPS at least boot up and let me know that?

Yes, if the batteries in the unit are totally dead, the unit will not start. But there are many possible scenarios in which a Smart UPS product will not turn on. Perform the below mentioned steps it may resolve your issue.
1. Please check the Battery Connections are properly connected in the UPS, try to disconnect and reconnect it, it may happens some time loose connections in it. Or try swapping the battery with any other working UPS and check.
2. Verify that there is normal AC utility power to the outlet that you are plugging the UPS into. If possible, connect the UPS in some othere wall socket and check.
3. Kindly attempt to start the Smart UPS product off it’s battery by cold starting it. There are 2 ways different ways to do this. First try to turn it on while its unplugged from the wall. If the Led does not come on then Hold the on power button in until you here a long beep and let it got before the beep finishes (usually about 4 seconds). When the unit is started off its battery it will indicate it is using its battery to power the unit.
4. If the UPS works on battery, plug it’s power cord into the wall. If the On battery indication does not go away then you will need to either desensitize the Smart-UPS product or get an electrician to come in and correct the issue with the outlet.
5. Please check the circuit breaker located on the rear of the UPS or near the input cord. The circuit breaker is labeled "Press to Reset" The circuit breaker will "trip" or pop out if there is a severe overload on the output side of the UPS (i.e., too much equipment is plugged into the UPS). Reducing the load, then press the "Reset" button in. The circuit breaker is tripped if it protrudes approximately 1/4" out from the unit. Once pushed back in, try to power the unit up again.
