Hi everyone
We have acquired 2x Smart UPS VT 40Kva units without batteries. To save on initial outlay can these units run on one or two battery modules (SYBT4) instead of the intended 4 that the unit came out the factory with? The site in question has a large 450Kva generator and the UPS is only needed for 20 seconds to bridge between loss of offsite power and the ATS changing the load to the generator.
Just for clarification I intend to use 2x SYBT4 units made up of 8x SYBT1-PLP battery trays to create 2 strings. Is this supported?
Thanks in advance
Jon

No. The system requires 1 string of batteries per KVA so a SUVT40 needs 4 strings of batteries. If you run with just 2 strings there is a possibility our damaging the batteries.
