APC Smart-UPS VT 30kVA 400V w/4 Batt. Mod., Start-Up 5X8, Internal Maint By

APC Smart-UPS VT 30kVA 400V w/4 Batt. Mod., Start-Up 5X8, Internal Maint Bypass, Parallel Capability

Dear Team
I just want to clear that the above mansion UPS is working in parallel and redundant? For example the total load is 75% then what will happened i.e. load sheared and goes each UPS at 25% or just one UPS is runs 75% of load? If any UPS become faulty then complete load shifted to another UPS? Is it sheared on two UPS's or only at one UPS. We are planed to install these three UPS's with APC Part N#(SBPAR30K40H-WP). Please send us complete information and operation of these UPS's. Detail files are attached.

Regards,
Zakir

yes, mtroha and clchee are both correct.

suvt in parallel will share load between them, but can operate as unitary should one be switched off. if bus comms fail will send to bypass.
if load exceeds one ups capacity then it will alarm, and if ups fails it will transfer to bypass on overload.

ap9619, will give you dry contacts for output alarms - but very limited. you can use the rj45, ethernet connection to use for more detailed spec through powerchute.

although you have asked basic questions, you will need to specify what you are after in more depth.

My second question. We are looking for remote alarm system from the UPS. Either is it possible that UPS generate alarm and indication from its SNMP card or any other dry contact to view on distance. For reference AP9619 is attached for your view. Please Reply with solution ASAP

Zakir,

I don't know much about these units but I saw no one else was reponding to your post and wanted to to at least give you a basic answer. From one of our 3phase specialists:

"The VT units will load share so any VT's that he has in parallel will Share the entire load at all times. If one UPS fails, then the load gets shared between any other available VT's in the solution."

If you require any further specific information, you should call your local APC Technical Support team or your local APC Sales rep. For a list of APC contacts, you can go to: http://www.apc.com/support/contact/index.cfm

Dear Zakir,

When deploying parallel redundant UPS systems the most important factor would be the size of your load and extra capacity for future expansion. When UPS operating in parallel can function as redundant or as capacity extension depending on the load size.

For your situation SUVTP 30kVA (assuming 2 units) when size of load is less than 30kVA, both UPS will share the entire load equally. In this scenario both UPS are working in redundant ie. when UPS-1 failed UPS-2 will take over the entire load, vice-versa.

On the other hand, when total load exceeds 30kVA then both UPS's capacity are combined and can take up to 60kVA total. In this scenario both UPS are working as capacity extension. Obviously a single UPS cannot handle the entire load and therefore when UPS-1 fails the entire load will be transfered to Bypass, vice-versa.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
C.L.Chee
