APC Smart UPS 1500 with Dead Batteries
A coworker of mine recently gave me a SUA1500RM2U along with some other equipment, however the batteries are dead (exploded but I cleaned out the corrosion) since they hadn't been changed since 2009.
Is this considered a decent UPS? It seems to be line interactive which I know some people are not a fan of.
Also is replacing the individual batteries inside the cartridge common practice for home use to save money? Or do people still recommend paying the money for the actual APC cartridge replacement ?
Seems like a $65 vs $260 difference, so I figured it was worth asking.
As for that unit I'd just want to caution you that if the batteries haven't been replaced in 11 years and they we're damaged when you took them out of the unit then there is a good chance the unit itself will not work.
