I am trying to set a static IP for SMT2200RM2UC. I have a 940-0625A Serial cable and a Tripp Lite USB to Serial adapter. I am unable to get anything to show up on the console screen after initiating a connection. After some time troubleshooting connection settings, it appears the problem might lie with the Serial to USB adapter. I noticed there is an APC version, but am having trouble locating a vendor for purchase. Before going forward, am I on the right track that the Serial to USB adapter is the source of my problems?
Thank you.

SmartConnect is a cloud-based solution and connects to APC's servers. It allows you to monitor your UPS from anywhere, even outside your network. For more details see:
https://smartconnect.apc.com/welcome
If you'd prefer something locally hosted, a network management card (AP9630, AP9631, or AP9635) would allow you to assign it a static IP and then access the UPS directly via this IP using a web browser, telnet, ssh, snmp, etc. It can be installed in the SmartSlot and has its own ethernet port. It can work with SmartConnect or, if you prefer, you can leave the SmartConnect port unplugged.

Hi,
The SMT22002UC does not allow for serial terminal communication as the older Smart-UPS did. Also, SmartConnect UPS do not offer the ability to set static IP address on the UPS. You can set a static IP address via the network. See Schneider Electric FAQ FA321794

Thanks for the info! So in our case the UPS is connected to core switches, which is then connected to a firewall. In this case, where would I need to make these changes?
Perhaps there is a way to reset the network card without restarting the UPS? I can try to get a DHCP lease that way.

For the network management card (NMC):
- You can reset it either using the reset pinhole on the front or by removing and re-inserting the card
- You can get a serial console using a 940-0299 cable (normally comes with the NMC). It has a DB9 connector on the computer end and a 2.5mm stereo connector that plugs into the NMC.
- Unlike SmartConnect, the NMC can be configured to take a static IP
- The IP can be configured via the UPS LCD display. The network management card automatically reboots after changes to IP settings.

Thanks for the help voidstar, but I'm not sure those steps apply to my model UPS.
There is no pinhole, I cannot remove the card.
There is no 2.5mm stereo connector present.
I can only view the IP configuration in the About screen on the LCD display

If you had a network management card (NMC), it would be removable from the slot in the top left (SmartSlot).
The port in green below the SmartSlot is SmartConnect which Bill described above.

Am I not able to monitor and manage the UPS via the SmartConnect port?
I was finally able to get an IP address, but am unable to access it via web browser.
