I have a SUA3000RMXL3 APC UPS, I am looking to add an external battery pack. I found one locally but its an SU48R3XLBP, which seems to be a little different according to APC's website but I can not find any physical differences. Will this battery work with my unit or do I have to get a SUA48RMXLBP3U? Thanks in advance.
Ryan

as far as i know, that will work since they are both SUA. i dont think its listed as an option on the rackmount model because the UXABP48 doesnt fit in a rack. you also may need an extension cord for the battery pack to reach the UPS, such as [SUA039|http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SUA039].

unfortunately, "SU" battery packs and "SUA" units are NOT compatible so don't buy this.
Any SKU that starts with "SU" can for the most part only work with an APC UPS that begins with "SU" and same with "SUA," only SKUs that start with "SUA" can work with other SKUs that start with "SUA."
There are a couple exceptions though such as the UXBP48 battery pack working with some SUA models I think and also some other accessories like hardwire kits, rail kits, etc work across the different generations of Smart UPS, even though they start with "SU."
hope this helps.

Ok I just wanted to be sure..., it was a LOT cheaper to go with the SU battery pack versus SUA. What is true difference between SUA and SU they look identical!

"SU" units were mostly beige and the new SUA models are black. most of the differences are behind the scenes such as - more intelligent battery management, firmware tweaks, etc

ok last dumb question then....seems like the Ultra batteries are a better deal for the $$$, i see they only show up for the rack/tower convertibles (5U) models. Do they not work with the RackMount 3U models like mentioned above? I can't find where it says its supported or not but it only shows up for the Tower models...just make more sense going this route, I know they are very ugly but don't really care if it has a bigger capacity.
