Unlike previous APCs I have owned this one is a MUCH higher end model then all the others yet the fan on it never shuts off at all: its constantly on and driving me insane! It should be off especially when the power has not been interrupted or the trunks lines are off/unplugged.
Please tell me there is a way to curtail the fan and make this unit quiet like the others as the unit is nearby to my work desk (like all previous APCs I've owned) and can't have this constant droning sound. Thank you!
Since this is a new unit as of Feb/2019 it has 07.1 firmware.

Hi,
To The UPS has a Smart slot so if you would like to manage over your network you can add a netowrk management card. The SKUs are AP9630, AP9631, or AP9635
As for the configuration, reset the UPS (see FAQ FA156611). If the reset / brain dead does not resolve the issue please contact local support at 800-555-2725 Option 1.

Hi Ed
The SRT utilizes a fan that is always spinning, and just the speed of it changes depending on conditions like battery temperature, load, and input current.
Regards
Matt

Good morning Matt..
My load is so low right now (5%) that it shouldn't be running at all like previous models. 😞
Whatever happened to invoking the battery / voltage check when required like all previous APC's I've owned? Why have the fan on all the time when its not required unless power is disrupted OR voltage changes in the mains?

Update..
The APC has been moved to another room with a heavy-duty extension code threaded through the ceilings/unfinished walls over to where the most critical units to have uninterrupted / clean power are stationed. Not entirely ideal but I can't have that 50dB noise droning on from the APC. I am disappointed this 1500XLA does not dynamically kick in the fan when required (mains are down or faulting voltage) like all other APCs in the past due but then again this is a much higher/industrial grade APC compared to others (since its also a rack-mount).
I gather there is no way this 1500XLA can connect via Ethernet to my Router but has to be managed via USB or Serial Con or hands-on digital display directly? The actual digital display gives me everything I need anyway.

Sorry to bother but another question..
The SRT1500XLA seems to not save my commands (I am working off the unit's own digital display) where, for example, if I want to disable Green Mode OR turn back on audible sounds it says it made the change but then a few seconds later it reverts. 😐 Why?

Just curious, what made the engineers decide to make this normal operation, these UPS's generate almost no heat when not on battery or charging and I get it, they are "drip charging" the battery at all times but that still generates little to no heat. I ended up having to get a refund on my SRT1500XLA because I can't have the noise in my office/family room, I was replacing a SMX1500RM2U that was old. I have since bought a SMX1500RM2U and just like my older unit this does not run the fan all the time.......Why did APC make this annoying decision to run the fan all the time on just the SRT and not SMX, is there a difference? they are both 1500.. Thanks in advance.
