We have HP c7000 with 6 power supplies and HP MSA 2000 SAN with additional disk cage. It is protected with Smart UPS 5000RMI5U. Everyting has been working fine for 8 months, but in last month AVR relay on UPS failed twice ( UPS does not want to power up, all LEDs blinking). UPS went to service, returned, worked fine for two weeks and nw failed again. Load is less than 30%, so what could be the problem? What should I check first?
Please help. Thank you

i am not sure if service policies are different, but in the USA, if this UPS is under warranty, we would replace it. even if you clear the error, it will come back, as you have seen when the relay is needed. this shouldnt be a 'servicable' part and woiuld require an entire UPS replacement.

lvan,
I apolgoize for the problem you are having. It appears to be an internal fault in the unit circuitry. Is the power coming from the wall normal to the UPS? Did the UPS transfer to battery frequently? Did you talk to APC Customer Care Center in your region again?

lvan,
Do you have a management software installed on your system or NMC access to view the UPS logs? If so, did the AVR relay failed issue correct itself after some time? or Did you reboot the UPS to have it work fine again? Could you please attach a file of the event and data logs which recorded during the failures? This will give us some insight to the issue. Secondly, Is your unit under warranty?

Hi,
Yes, unit is under warranty. It has already been serviced because of the same problem (3 weeks ago). AVR relay failed message doesn't go away (issue doesnt correct itself after some time), rebooting UPS doesn't help either. I tried rebooting it with no load at all, but the problem remains. UPS boots, all LEDs blink several times, and then it shuts down. We have APC ntework shutdon software on all clients, and there is management card in the UPS, so I can send you the logs tomorrow (UPS is disconnected so I cant reach it via VPN). Do you have any idea what could cause problem repetedly? Defective unit, dirty current or something else? I can keep servicing it as long it is under warranty, but it is not a solution because it keeps happening.
I will send all the logs tomorrow, meanwhile, thanks!
