Hi
We recently picked up a "preloved" SmartUPS 1500 that came with an AP9631; the seller warned me that the AP "has the latest firmware, but needs a factory reset", to which I was not overly concerned, having done a quick web search beforehand to get the (numerous) procedures.
However, while the SmartUPS is working "just fine", I cannot for the life of me get the AP9631 to factory reset; pushing the reset button in any number of ways does nothing to the status LED on the card. I've tried:
* The SE published steps (serial cable, hold in the reset button for 5-7 seconds, wait for the light to change, press the reset button again, hit enter in your serial terminal)
* The "internet favourite" hold in the reset button for at least a minute until the light changes
* Just a quick touch of the reset button to get it to go amber/flash/change in some way at all
Both with and without a(n active) network cable plugged in. Nothing works, the status light stays stubbornly green. The card appears to be otherwise working; I can get to the authentication via serial or web browser (thank the stars the UPS has a screen that told me the IP), and used a multimeter to "buzz out" the reset switch, so I know that is "alive", but without a reset mechanism I am stuck with whatever the previous authentication details are, and I can't modify the IP either.
Any advice on how to proceed?

Hi JonPro,
Apologies for the delay in responding, I only go to my employers office (where this unit is) once a week, but otherwise many thanks; following the BootMonitor process (and factory_reset) has allowed me to get the card to permit login with apc/apc (and that's good enough for me for the present).
I'll now be able to assign a suitable IP for the network and use it for it's intended purpose.
Have "Marked as solution".
